Google Apps Backup Startup Hires New Chief Revenue Officer to Boost Momentum

Spanning, a provider of cloud backup for cloud applications, announced that it appointed Jeff Erramouspe as its new CRO.

The Austin-based startup is best known for its flagship product, Spanning Backup for Google Apps, the highest ranking service in this category on the Google Apps Marketplace. The firm has not released any specific numbers, but says that monthly recurring revenue has increased by 800 percent in the past 12 months, and that it expects revenue this year to be 10 times more than what it made in 2011.  Spanning has every intention of holding on to this momentum, and the latest hire underscores this goal.

Erramouspe brings with him 20 years of experience in marketing and management.  He worked for both Fortune 500 companies and smaller entrepreneurial ventures, a necessary qualification as the chief revenue officer of a hyper-growth startup with high hopes.

Erremousep’s new job description puts him in charge of all the sales and marketing initiatives that Spanning undertakes.

Spanning says that it has seen a surge in demand after the launch of Google Drive. The search giant’s cloud services portfolio is also taking great leaps forward, in spite of a recent set back. Thousands of Google App Engine users went through encountered massive performance issues a few days ago due to network ‘anomalies’ that were promptly sorted out.
