Yesterday Splunk unveiled a new connector that provides real-time integration between its flagship analytics platform and traditional database systems from major vendors. DB Connect offers the user a convenient means to feed structured data directly into Splunk Enterprise, a big time and money saver for enterprise clients that store a sizable chunk of their information in relational environments.
“Splunk DB Connect simplifies everything about how we integrate machine data with data from our relational databases,” said Tracy Dalzell, senior project manager for Boardreader, a search engine operator that leverages Splunk’s BI software.
“We used to look at yesterday’s data. Now we can see what’s going on as it happens. Instead of hunting around nine different Web servers, we click right into an event and troubleshoot problems or answer critical business questions on the spot. Splunk Enterprise and Splunk DB Connect made our data infrastructure vastly more effective and dynamic and helped us cut overall costs by eliminating the need for a data warehouse.”
Being able to move data around easily is as big deal in today’s information-driven era. Egnyte, a company that specializes in enterprise file management, recently added cloud support to its platform. The latest release of EgynytePlus is integrated with Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure and NetApp GRID, which means customers can now natively migrate files from their own premise infrastructure to the cloud and vice versa.
