Have you ever tried installing a piece of open source software and been put off by the three pages ‘how-to install’ tutorial? Why can’t we install server applications in one-click, just like we do from a mobile app-store? If these are the questions in your mind, then here’s the news for you. ComodIT, Belgium-based IT Automation as a Service provider, recently released a really cool new feature, changing the way developers will deliver their server based applications.
ComodIT has released a “Direct Install” button that enables developers to deliver a similar user experience for discovery and deployment of their enterprise server based applications. With this, developers can embed a small button on their site (similar to a Facebook Like button) and let their visitors install their application in one-click on their server, or even to test drive the application for free in the cloud.
The best part is that developers need to write just a few lines of HTML on their site, in order to add this “Direct Install” button. Here are the three steps Developers should follow to add the Direct Install button:
1. Automate the installation of application and its dependencies with ComodIT by writing an application template.
2. Make application available within the ComodIT application marketplace by publishing the apps.
3. Embed the direct install button on your site.
ComodIT is also introducing a cloud platform where your users can ‘Test Drive’ your application even if you don’t have a server to deploy it.
