Good Technology is Great for the Enterprise
Just when you think you’ve seen all that Mobile Device Management (MDM) products have to offer, the truth is that there are some products that are pushing the envelope in ways that have tremendous enterprise value. Good Technology is one of those leading companies that is delivering these features to the enterprise. They have been on a tear of announcements lately, so I took a briefing with Good Technology’s CTO, Nicko Van Someren.
Let’s set the stage – BYOD is increasingly becoming a norm across the enterprise and not the exception. With that, mobile security, apps, and management have become critical focus points for enterprise security. Among the company’s announcements is that their newest mobile security product is the first comprehensive solution in the market that addresses the evolution of MDM.
What that means to customers is that it enables the containerization and management of mobile apps, and that even includes devices that are not under MDM control. Good Technology’s Secure Mobility Platform protects corporate data from app to app. The suite also features comprehensive analytics information, such as usage, peak usage, app comparisons, and more. The result is that IT departments can now confidently deploy mobile apps and have another powerful security tool to work with, while getting real app statistics from their own specialized deployments.
The whole thing has a workflow approach from deployment to management that certainly has tremendous possibilities. Good also recently announced support for Windows Phone 8 and Microsoft Office 365 in their Good for enterprise product. Among the many features and benefits of both of those products, they have strong business value above all else. That fits in well with Good’s enterprise strategy.
Good Technology also recently announced the availability of a number of new business applications in their Good Dynamics Marketplace. This marketplace features a number of secure and simple business-focused apps that cover things like remote access, document management, mobile printing, file access, CRM, ERP, Business Intelligence, social and more. For business looking to jump from legacy to a ready-made, mobile-focused and secure app system, this is an ideal option.
If you’re looking to build apps yourself, Good’s Dynamics platform has a bunch of leading features, from server clustering support, mobile app analytics, service management, app wrapping (no source code!) – The name of the game is nimble, broad development support, and that’s what Good has built here.
Good’s product suite captures the mobile workflow from development, security, deployment, and management, end-to-end. From every perspective within the enterprise, there’s something here and it’s complete with management, reporting, and collaboration. Good Technology’s products have been validated by having an extensive government relationship at many levels.
Recently they announced that they entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the US Air Force.
As recognized by industry analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, “the United States Air Force is following the practice of many enterprises in the private sector, by making the decision to provide its personnel with mobile devices to enhance their productivity and operational capabilities.” The Air Force is currently using Good for Enterprise™ to allow airmen to access their email and personal applications, while keeping official Air Force data separate and secure using Good’s unique container approach.
This collaboration means that Good Technology and the Air Force will work together on the technologies and mobility needs that their users need under strict military security requirements. In essence, it fortifies the enterprise security nature and abilities of Good’s products.
