Hosted by AmbushedGamer, indie game fans, streamers, and developers are joining together for the first time in the first annual 12 Days of Indie charity stream. The charity stream is set to include a number of streamers, fans and developers all joining for a common cause–to raise money for the Toys For Tots charity.
Toys for Tots is the Marine Corps’ program to help less fortunate children in the US. The program encourages people to play an active role in the development of children.
Thanks to Ambushed Gamer for putting all of this together, the streaming is running from December 1, 2013 to December 12, 2013. The 12 days of indie game streaming on Twitch.tv to raise money for Toys for Tots.
“Most independent game developers and supporters have limited funds but huge hearts,” says AmbushedGamer. “Many of us grew up in households considered below the poverty level. Personally, we at Ambushed Gamer know how it feels to be that child, and want to give back to our community.”
“In addition, we wanted a nationally recognized charity, with an excellent reputation. Toys for Tots rates 3/4 Stars on the site Charity Navigator, the fact that Toys for Tots has a low administrative cost, we decided Toys for Tots would be an ideal candidate for our 1st Annual 12 Days of Indie.”
The event will have 18 streamers from 9 countries, 15 developers, and countless indie game fans. Ambushed Gamer goal is to raise $12,000 in monetary donations for Toys For Tots. The company is also asking developers, streamers, sponsors, fans and others to donate physical gifts. Ambushed Gamer also involving development teams and publishers to join in the chat or the stream to answer questions.
