Guavus optimizes operations analytics platform for virtualized environments

analytics up closeGuavus, a venture-backed infrastructure analytics firm led by former NetApp product head Manish Goel, has reworked the Guavus Reflex Platform, its flagship solution, to run in virtualized carrier networks. The milestone update comes as the rapid growth in connected device drives telcos—along with cloud providers and large enterprises—to migrate from legacy systems to more scalable and cost-effective architectures such as hyperscale.

Guavus says that its Reflex Platform is the only operational intelligence product that can be deployed in completely virtualized service environments. The offering enables operators to tap into a wide range of information sources—from the databases and applications that power their networks to the smartphones and tablets that run on top—for insight into system health and usage trends.

“Guavus has been helping the world’s leading Communication Service Providers (CSPs) aggregate and analyze diverse data about their networks, subscribers, devices and content to capitalize on undiscovered market opportunities,” said Guavus CTO Roy Singh, “[and] accelerate time-to-market for new offerings, and reduce operational costs through optimization and automation. Today, our value is realized in a new endeavor that is essential to CSPs—virtualization.”

Guavus claims that the new version of the Reflex Platform is “infinitely extensible” across virtual infrastructure, enabling carriers to hook it up to business processes without sacrificing agility or expend person-hours on overcoming legacy constraints. The platform is already being deployed by an unnamed Tier-1 global telecommunications provider who is currently in the process of virtualizing its production environment—a project that the company reports has spurred interest from several other operators.

“Only Guavus has the science and technology to help our customers make the kind of closed loop decisions that improve network performance and improve customer experience,” Singh said. “Now our customers can add Guavus as a service to their burgeoning virtual infrastructures.”
