Presidio is one of the largest providers and resellers of integrated solutions in the United States and considers itself to be at the forefront of the converged infrastructure movement. It is one of Microsoft’s largest partners and also recently won EMC’s award for “Converged Infrastructure of the Year”.
TheCUBE hosts Jeff Frick and Steve Kenniston had a chance to talk with Raphael Meyerowitz, AVP of Data Center Technical Services at Presidio recently at EMC World 2014.
According to Meyerowitz, EMC is moving in the direction of software-defined and hybrid cloud solutions, and Presidio is interested in selling and implementing these solutions for customers. The Presidio managed cloud is a fully managed private and hybrid cloud for customers with VSPEX and Vblock systems, as well as software and hardware services, managed on an ongoing basis.
Presidio’s strategy for evolving cloud technology is part of its Strategic Engagement Framework (SEF) that relies heavily on consultation with customers before selling and implementing technology. Presidio examines a company’s current applications and determines if those applications can actually survive in the public cloud, relying on EMC’s own internal assessment tools to make the determination.
During SEF, Presidio also looks at ROI (return on investment) and TCO (total cost of ownership) to make sure the customer is getting the most out of their cloud solutions. Not every new cloud user is necessarily happy with the costs associated with the cloud, and Presidio helps customers decide ahead of time if the cloud will be cost effective for them.
Meyerowitz explained that the benefits of Presidio’s style of converged infrastructure is that it frees up system administrators to focus on other tasks, providing automation, an easy to use dashboard and easy virtual machine provisioning. Meanwhile, Presidio monitors hardware and software. To learn more about Presidio’s managed private cloud solutions and converged infrastructure, you can watch the full interview right here.
