Watch LIVE! from IBM Insight as Big Data goes pro
Broadcasting live from theCUBE this week, SiliconANGLE is at the IBM Insight conference in Las Vegas. Big Blue’s annual Big Data conference is among the industry’s largest, with over 13,000 attendees expected this year. The show will host product demos, training and networking opportunities within IBM’s ecosystem, as the technology stalwart looks to position its software services for data management and advanced analytics in the enterprise.
With live interviews today and tomorrow, theCUBE will be speaking with IBM executives, analysts, investors and customers to learn firsthand how IBM is leveraging the Big Data market for its pivot into lower margin, software-led services. Big Blue has sold off much of its high cost hardware commodities to Lenovo, shifting its efforts to enabling enterprises looking to refocus their own resources from the underlying hardware to the data-driven capabilities of infrastructure and operational efficiency.
The big question for IBM’s Big Data plan is how it will be monetized. Products like Watson are being modified for enterprise use, but are customers buying? Better yet, can IBM generate revenue around a Big Data services model when the industry is moving towards open source solutions like Hadoop?
theCUBE will be investigating these questions during this week’s coverage of IBM Insight, specifically looking to address the progress of IBM’s plan to be the datacenter of the world, which is a realistic goal, according to Wikibon.org CTO David Floyer, and further support the application layer to become a middleware powerhouse.
