Phone charging belt raises $60,000 on Indegogo

xoo beltA belt that moonlights as a phone charger has surpassed expectations by raising $60,000 on Indegogo.

The Xoo Belt is a “a smart belt that charges your phone, anytime and anywhere,” while also being “convenient, stylish & mighty” according to the official pitch.

While the gadget is meant to feel and weigh the same as a regular belt, it offers a 2,100mAh battery to charge your devices, providing sufficient charging if you’re on the go.

The belt includes a charging wire that is magnetically nestled against the inside of the belt when not in use, so fortunately you don’t need to remember to bring a cable with you.

To charge: plug the device into any USB port, and it offers support for both iPhone and Android.

The company also claims that the battery used is “ultra safe” and “weather resistant,” but despite the assurances most people would not want to get seriously wet with a battery tied against their waist…and definitely to not attempt to wash it.

The timeline for the XOO Belt should see it in shops July 2015, although if you’re keen now they are still taking money on Indegogo for belt packages, with the cheapest package currently available offering a belt/ buckle combination for $125.
