The transition to Software Defined Networking (SDN) should start with the business value, not the technology layer. Alastair Winner, VP, HP Technology Services, HP Servers & Networking, explained in his live interview with theCUBE that SDN is a big strategic area of investment for HP and for the customers. “It’s a big transition going from a traditional, very static network to something that is very new and dynamic. It’s a system that we are supporting – the devices, the control layer and the app layer. It’s very important that we get that experience right, it’s a key component of SDN,” he added.
The business value to the customer should be the key driver for a transition to SDN. “For me, it’s critically important that the customer is looking at what the business outcome is. What is the business value you can drive from SDN? Rather than starting at the technology layer, where is the real business value?” Winner said.
