Cisco Systems, Inc., Bosch GmbH, and ABB Ltd., have teamed up to form a joint initiative that aims to develop and operate an open software platform targeting smart home devices and applications.
This platform aims to facilitate the exchange of data from connected devices of different brands as well as provide a number of services related to household devices, such as energy management, security technology and entertainment.
The three companies plan to invite an array of appliance electronics manufacturers, home automation vendors and service providers to join a business ecosystem that will facilitate collaboration as well as incorporation of a wide range of user requirements when developing the software platform.
Software and analytics platform for wearable technology Strap raised $1.25 million in a seed funding led by CincyTech with participation from Mercury Fund, Vine Street Ventures, Danmar Capital, Hyde Park Venture Partners, and New Coast Ventures and angels including Wendy S. Lea.
The funding will be used by Strap to fuel the company’s growth through product development while increasing increasing partnerships with developers, enterprises and brands.
