The infamous selfie. It can draw followers in or completely turn them off. It’s warranted selfie schools for teens and celebrities alike, and helped Instagram become a billion-dollar app. Today we take a look at some of the newer selfie-specific offerings in the app world.
For those with a smartphone, taking a selfie is now a pretty normal occurrence. You see people taking them while on the bus, train, elevator, walking, eating or just about whatever they are doing.
You may already have a go-to app when it comes to taking the perfect selfie, but in recent weeks and months, new selfie apps have been launched. So let’s take a look at these selfie apps that bring something new to the table.
Named after the home asteroid of The Little Prince, this app was launched by messaging app LINE, which aims to help people take better selfies. B612 offers 78 filters to choose from and allows users to take selfies by tapping anywhere on the phone’s screen and then choose which photos will be saved. It doesn’t make a sound when taking a photo, so you can selfie in peace wherever and whenever you please.
B612 is free to download in iOS and Android. SiliconANGLE’s Duncan Riley has tried out the app, and you can read his review here.
There are so many things happening each day. Some of them are not as noticeable as others, but they may still be worth remembering. A new app called Everyday reminds people to take selfies, well, every single day. You can set it to remind you to take a photo at a specific time of the day, when at specific locations, or at random. And you can even start multiple projects for yourself, your partner, your baby, your pets, or for whatever it is that you like.
Everyday is currently only available for iOS for $1.99.
Some people take selfies to help them keep track of their health and fitness progress, and now there’s a new app called Healthy Selfie that focuses on just that. Selfies are date stamped so you can easily see if you’re making any progress, plus there’s a compare feature that allows you to compare your selfies to see the changes happening in your body.
Healthy Selfie also connects you to other people who are also aiming to get fit and healthy, plus you can use the app to keep track of your dietary needs. Healthy Selfie is free to download on iOS devices.
Some people love posting selfies that have not been edited in any form, but others want to spice things up by adding filters, editing how their skin looks, adding virtual makeup or just by adding words and frames to it. If you like changing your appearance in photos, you might want to give Looksery a try.
Looksery is a video messaging app that allows users to place filters, 3D animations, live Emojis and color enhancements in real time. You can also take selfies using the app and share it with your friends or other Looksery users or just keep it for yourself. Looksery is free to download on iOS and Android.
Filters is a photo-editing app that can be easily used to enhance selfies with its 800+ filters, textures, vintage film recreations, vibrant colored gel overlays, standard and multi-effect image adjustment tools, and visual effects.
You can zoom in while editing and tap-hold to compare edits and originals. It has a simple, distraction-free user interface so you can focus on making each photo the perfect shot. Filters is available for iOS for $0.99.
