Twitch will allow users to “co-stream” its E3 broadcasts
Twitch will once again be the exclusive livestreaming partner for this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 16-18. This is the second year in a row that Twitch will serve as the primary web video source for E3, and it has already signed a deal to do so again for 2016.
While Twitch will have its own broadcasters covering the events at E3, the livestreaming site has also announced that it will allow users to hold their own broadcasts using its E3 streams.
“Adding a new twist, Twitch broadcasters will be allowed to co-stream all of the Twitch E3 content on twitch.tv/twitch to their own channels,” Twitch said in a statement. “By providing their own commentary on the news, this gives broadcasters the opportunity to create a more personalized, social experience for their communities.”
As a community driven platform that relies on both viewers and content creators, including its user base in the streaming events makes sense for Twitch.
“The Twitch community is the single most active, socially engaged group of gamers in the world,” Jon Carnage, Twitch’s Live Programming Director, said in the statement. “They have a voracious appetite, especially for new indie and AAA games. With every press conference on Twitch and every major publisher being featured on the Twitch stage, we’ve got the fans covered. By having the industry’s most comprehensive collection of live streamed content, this is shaping up to be our biggest E3 to date.”
One of the expected highlights for this year’s E3 include Bethesda Softworks’ presentation of Fallout 4, which the studio announced earlier this week. Other highlights include presentations by Nintendo, Xbox, Ubisoft, and more.
