6 new Apple products to look forward to before the end of the year
We are halfway through the year and, the Apple Watch launch aside, the best is yet to come from Apple. The iPhone maker traditionally unveils new iPhones and a new version of iOS to go with them around September.
While Apple has told us a lot about iOS 9 and other products already, there are a few exciting new products shrouded in rumors we still expect to see before the year is out.
Two new iPhones in September
September has become synonymous with a new iPhone, and this year shouldn’t be any different. Like last year, Apple may have two new iPhones to show off. Rumors suggest they’ll be dubbed the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus and, while they won’t look much different from the iPhone in your hand right now, they will likely feature a slew of under-the-hood changes, including Force Touch, a better camera, a faster processor with more memory, a supercharged FaceTime camera, and more.
New iPhones, new iOS
As is tradition, Apple will release iOS 9 in September – most likely alongside the two new iPhones. In iOS 9, Siri is contextually aware and, combined with deeper search integration, brings an intuitive and proactive experience to iPhone. With iOS 9, Apple also promises up to four hours of extra battery life for iPhone.
A host of multitasking features, including side-by-side app views and picture-in-picture capability, means iOS 9 is also set to change how you use your iPad.
iOS 9 is on its second developer beta right now and we expect to see the public beta during the last half of this month.
The biggest iPad yet, aimed at business users
Rumors suggest Apple is working on a 12.9-inch iPad, dubbed the iPad Pro. Code in an early iOS 9 beta release revealed support for a bigger than usual keyboard aimed at the iPad. The above mentioned multitasking features in iOS 9 also seem squarely aimed at a larger screen iPad for use in a business setting.
Other new features rumored for the iPad Pro are Force Touch, NFC, a stylus, a USB Type-C port, and even multiuser login support in iOS 9 – although this was absent from Apple’s presentation when it unveiled the new OS.
New OS X, improved Apple TV, new iMac
In addition to iOS 9, new iPhones and a new iPad, the last half of 2015 will also see the release of El Capitan, Apple’s new OS for Mac, possibly new Apple TV hardware and, thanks to code buried in the El Capitan beta, a new 21.5-inch iMac.
