JReport reveals its ‘secret sauce’ | #RHSummit
Jinfonet Software, Inc., which provides the JReport product suite, a Java reporting solution that delivers customizable business intelligence, started in 1998 by working in embeddable reporting. And that’s still the company’s focus today, according to Dean Yao, director of marketing at JReport.
During Red Hat Summit 2015, Yao told theCUBE that the company’s services include “embedded reporting functionality, dashboard visualization, data visualization, data analysis into IVS applications for [our customers] to provide their services to their customers.” Yao emphasized JReport’s advancements in visualization, dashboarding technologies, analysis and analytics technology, “but it’s all cored on the that foundational reporting element,” he assured.
Creating a flexible reporting engine
Yao also asserted that “the secret sauce really is in the robustness of the performance of our reporting engine.” The company has been using a reporting engine, called JReport Server, for the past 10 years. JReport’s service is flexible: “You can cluster [the report] out, it’s scalable, has no single point of failure, and also it’s an ease of use self-serviceability,” Yao said. “We cater to the business users that actually want to create reports and dashboard to do their own analysis.”
JReport works with Big Data as well. “It doesn’t really matter what type of Big Data source it is. We’re able to extract data either through interfaces like Hive or Apache Drill or even native connectors that we talk to their API; no-SQL databases are really great at real-time data,” Yao said.
“We can grab those data and display them in real-time or even in detailed-level reports,” he concluded.
