This week’s Smart DevOps roundup features an expanded Intel Internet of Things (IoT) Developer Program, additional funding for a natural language interface startup and a partnership that eases app development for IoT.
During the Intel Developer Forum 2015 in San Francisco, CA, Intel announced the expansion of its IoT Developer Program to include Intel’s IoT Commercial Developer Resources and Kits. The expansion delivers a set of resources, developer kits, tools, knowledge and technical support that will be beneficial for those who are just starting with the program, as well as those who are already knee-deep in it.
The commercial developer kit includes an Intel Galileo board and a variety of sensors and Wind River software. It provides an end-to-end solution of APIs, security, Cloud connectivity and integrated development environments, which provides a clear path from prototype to production for developers.
Natural language interface startup api.ai raised $3 million in a round of funding led by SAIC Capital with the participation of previous investors Intel Capital and Alpine Technology Fund, as well as Motorola Solutions Venture Capital.
The round of funding will be used to further develop its natural language tools that allows developers to add Siri-like features to their own apps. The round of funding will also allows the startup to reduce the fee for developers using its tools.
Machine-to-machine and IoT device manufacturer MultiTech Systems, Inc. and application platform for IoT Solair Srl announced a collaboration to showcase the benefits of IoT to companies no matter their size. The partnership will bring MultiTech’s products and extensive distribution network and Solair’s flexible platform that enables the creation of easy-to-use web-based IoT applications.
Solair’s platform will be used to transform data collected and transmitted by MultiTech devices and will allow joint customers to focus on growing their business without having to worry about all the technical details.
