Full specs: New iPad Pro is huge, optional stylus and full keyboard | #AppleEvent

It’s been five years since Apple first came out with the iPad, but today at Apple’s Special Event, the biggest news in the history of the iPad was announced: The new iPad Pro. It’s built for the enterprise, and even features highly integrated Office apps from Microsoft.

iPad Pro 12.9-inch screen

One of the biggest innovations for the iPad Pro is it’s large screen. It measures 12.9 inches diagonally–that’s 78 percent more screen space than the iPad Air 2. Such a large screen has helped Apple offer a full-size keyboard and better multitasking features. The resolution is 5.6 million pixels—higher than any other IOS device. It’s the most advanced display Apple has ever built.

More iPad Pro features

iPad Pro features the new A9X chip—a 3rd generation 64-bit chip that helps it have desktop-class performance. At 6.9 millimeters wide and 1.57 pounds, it’s thin and light enough to hold all day, and powerful enough to take everywhere. It has a four-speaker audio system to enhance the dynamic range. The iPad Pro is also the first iPad to automatically adjust the number of times the display is refreshed, which leads to greater energy efficiency and battery life. The iPad Pro starts at $799 with 32 gigs of memory.

The Apple Pencil

With the new screen display of the iPad Pro, Apple has invented the Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil works with the iPad Pro screen to get the exact weight of one’s stroke. It calculates the angle and orientation to produce broad and shaded strokes. It can be used simultaneously with one’s finger, and it’s one of the most advanced technologies Apple has ever created. The Apple Pencil is priced at $99.

Apple also is launching the iPad Mini 4—an iPad with the power and performance of the iPad Air 2, but small and lightweight. The iPad Pro, iPad Mini 4, and Apple Pencil products will be available November 2015.
