Security industry hits its peak | #splunkconf
The security industry is experiencing one of its highest activity levels ever, according to Atif Ghauri, senior vice president of global information security firm Herjavec Group. Ghauri spoke to John Furrier, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during Splunk .conf2015.
“Companies are searching for products, services … anything to get through,” Ghauri said. “Security teams are overwhelmed. The market is in flux right now, and we need a lot of great partners to help fill in the gaps.”
Navigating through the anomalies
Splunk, Inc. partners well with security leaders, as its Big Data platforms help security companies find and answer questions from the data they gather.
“In the past, we had all this information about attacks coming in from all parts of the network,” Ghauri said. “But there was really no way to think through the data that’s coming in. Companies like Splunk are able to analyze the questions. In the past, we didn’t have the answers. Now we have the answers in data. We also need to know what the questions are. These platforms provide a base to navigate through all the anomalies that are happening today.”
Although platforms such as Splunk give companies such as Herjavec Group a leg up on attackers, Ghauri said, “Right now we’re behind in the arms race.”
