The Divinity: Original Sin 2 Kickstarter campaign has less than two days to go, and with just over $200,000 remaining to reach its final stretch goal, developer Larian Studios has announced that it will be hosting a 24-hour Twitch stream tomorrow to push the campaign over the top.
“The last 24 hours is a busy time for any Kickstarter campaign, and we’re definitely not making it easy for ourselves!” Larian wrote in an update on Kickstarter. “We’re going to be delivering hours of content, streamed live on Twitch to give you an unprecedented level of access to our offices, our devs, and our plans for the game.
“Our Twitch marathon will include a range of DevLines that will discuss Strategist Mode, the editor that the game will ship with, the Enhanced Edition and what it’s development brings to D:OS 2, and will even include a DevStorm: where we brainstorm your Uservoice ideas and see which will be best to implement in the game.”
The campaign for Divinity: Original Sin 2 was fully funded just hours after it went live, and it passed the total funding of the original game in less than a week. Since then, the campaign has blown past most of its stretch goals, which include expanded skill trees, racial skills, an undead origin story, mod support, and more.
The campaign has only two stretch goals remaining. The first, at $1.85 million, is a Shapeshifting Mask item that would allow players to morph their character into different people and creatures, offering new dialogue options and play styles for each. The final stretch goal, at $2 million, is a Gamemaster Mode that would let players take on the role of a traditional RPG dungeon master, giving them full control of other players’ game campaign in real time.
The developer will be hosting several Arena Battles throughout the event featuring both Twitch streamers and Larian staff members, as well as a special battle between RPG Watch and RPG Codex, two game communities who each donated $10,000 to the Kickstarter campaign to get their names added to the game’s title screen. Larian will also showcase retrospectives on the entire Divinity game series, as well as Q&As and special “Devstorm” sessions, where the developer will chat with fans about other features that should be added to the game.
The stream will be held on Larian’s official Twitch page, and it will kick off Tuesday, September 28, at 6 a.m. PST. Larian’s Twitch page has a full breakdown of the stream schedule.
