Oracle expands application market into the cloud with integrated product suites | #oow15

The tech industry giant Oracle has staked its claim in the cloud with new technology and new applications meant to bring the cloud to more companies throughout the business world. To back up this push into the new space of remote computing, Oracle has released a new suite of products based around the idea of integrated, end-to-end solutions.

To get a better sense of the vision Oracle sees for the future, John Furrier and Brian Gracely, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, spoke to Steve Miranda, executive VP of applications development at Oracle, during Oracle OpenWorld 2015.

State of the application market

The discussion started with a look at where the application market is today. Miranda explained that Oracle was bringing, for the first time, a comprehensive suite of applications to the Cloud. He mentioned how applications, once in the Cloud, benefit from an improved speed of innovation and can do things for the customer that more traditional applications cannot.

Miranda said that Oracle was building on three pillars in the Cloud application space. One, a financials series of products to manage inventory, procurement and supply chains. Second, a package of marketing, services and salesforce automation. Third, a talent management cloud for customers with HR, payroll and benefits needs.

Choosing Oracle and using Oracle

Miranda then described why people choose Oracle for the cloud solutions. He said that Oracle enables a complete suite of applications that innovate at cloud speed. Also, he mentioned Oracle’s long track record of taking customers to the next generation in technology. Customers, he said, can innovate with Oracle’s platform and technology.

Buying into a system is one thing, while using it is quite another. Miranda spoke about how Oracle was committed to a new vision of user interfaces. “The word we try to use is contemporary,” he said. The trick is staying up to date with what the user expects, which means looking at how they use other applications like social media. The cloud, he said, gives Oracle the speed to deliver an up-to-date and contemporary user interface experience.
