Ya Joe aims to give nerdy tech guys a fashion makeover

The majority of the time, the stereotypical apparel we have lodged in our minds when it comes to tech nerds consists of a rumpled, oversized shirt with some pens stuck in the top pocket. However, those images could be a thing of the past with the recent launch of a clothing line created specifically for the badly-dressed tech guys out there.

Ya Joe’s clothing is the perfect answer for tech guys who hate the idea of a traditional shopping trip and never end up looking cool. Ya Joe founder, Joe Boldan, also the founder and former CEO of ExOfficio, and chief creative officer at Ya Joe, Aaron Hicks analyzed the day-to-day lives of tech guys to develop an apparel line that works for nerds.

The initial idea first came to Boldan while teaching workplace politics at the University of Washington. “Through this experience in teaching I became fascinated in understanding the characteristics of guys in tech and what made them so good at what they do,” he explained to TechCrunch. “From this understanding, I believed the analytic thought process that makes these guys so creative in all things tech, diminished their ability to ‘feel’ the biased nature of fashion/style/look.”

Ya Joe was born to provide a simplified solution to these fashion-phobic guys, which addresses three fashion elements: comfort, ease of care and functionality.

Not to overwhelm and confuse the tech geek, the inexpensive range of Ya Joe apparel consists of a tight selection of items and colors.

“Since we wanted to make the process for our shoppers as easy and streamlined as possible, we decided to offer select options and colors,” said Hicks. “We use high-quality materials, breathable fabrics and customize the pieces to fit within our customers’ lives. The clothing is interchangeable, allowing the casual yet professional pieces to easily transition from day to night. This allows our customers to purchase a range of clothing items that all look good together.”

The tech guys out there can also avoid the horror of a Saturday morning shopping trip as the Ya Joe apparel line is exclusively available online. Each item of clothing includes a description of why it was created and to provide further assistance to the fashion-avoiding tech geek the site also describes how the item can be worn in real life. Ensuring you order the right size is simplified with their realistic fitting guide.

If you can relate to the image of the unfashionable tech guy or this image personifies the man in your life, then head over to the Ya Joe site and start creating a fashionable wardrobe for both work and play.
