How RagingWire interconnects a hybrid formula | #StructureConf

Cloud is a big part of the new data paradigm. However, today’s cloud isn’t like the cloud the enterprise was looking at just a couple of years ago.

Bill Dougherty, SVP and CTO of RagingWire Data Centers, Inc. joined Jeff Frick, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team during Structure 2015 to discuss how his company is doing things different in a modern, interconnected cloud.

Interconnectivity is king

Dougherty oversees the IT architecture, operations, service delivery and a variety of staff. The company is unique in that it bills customers based on their power consumption. It specializes in providing stable environments that are as efficient as possible and reliable. The company’s number one priority is being efficient, and it is currently very aware of California’s drought problems, Dougherty said.

The company is exploring options for cooling, including using water in its datacenters in respect to these conditions. Meanwhile, it is able to provide extremely high density in its datacenters for customers to utilize.

The company has also put in tremendous effort in collecting data from throughout its environment. From systems, to generators, to power in the rack, that is the focus of its billing model. RagingWire is pushing on toward its next evolution to increasingly provide that same statistical information to its customers.

RagingWire is full center in the world of hybrid. Workloads that don’t work well in the public cloud have found their way here, and interconnectivity is king. RagingWire’s many large datacenters interconnect to customers everywhere in a variety of configurations according to what customers want.
