Complexity is the bane of datacenters and IT departments. It costs time and it ultimately costs money. A silver bullet for complex scenarios is orchestration.
Puppet Labs, Inc. is delivering that in countless scenarios with its open-source configuration management tool. Luke Kanies, founder and CEO of Puppet Labs sat down with George Gilbert, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team. The tool is known for its capabilities in configuration, patching, provisioning and management.
Kanies shared how this growing company is working in modern, multi-featured environments across the spectrum.
Puppet Labs is incredibly useful when anything that can be done can be repeated, Kanies said. It’s sort of a golden rule for system administrators, but the tools actually make it possible to work across a number of platforms and environments. One of the biggest things that the company sees in some circumstances is an embrace of legacy systems, which are really production systems that produce revenue and are impossible to effectively replace.
Puppet prides itself as providing the intersection between the old world and the new world in a way that is effective in this new reality. Operational efficiencies are in focus and making things simple with its unified code base, which allows companies to solve problems one at a time while introducing scale.
