Worried the TV is still listening to you when it’s turned off? Startup monitors smart home devices for hackers
Finally, smart home security means more than just replacing the ADT wall unit. A new service protects smart home networks from hackers accessing personal data through connected light bulbs, baby monitors and refrigerators.
Making sure the doors and windows are locked and the alarm armed is probably the last activity before turning in at night. But while you breathe a sigh of relief knowing that intruders won’t be able to physically get into your home without sounding the alarm, our increasingly connected world is opening new back doors for a fresh breed of trespassers.
To make sure your privacy is protected, Dojo-Labs has introduced Dojo, the first technology to monitor the behavior of each device on the network to protect and ensure the privacy of your home.
“Dojo knows when the TV is still recording your voice even if it’s off and when the data is being uploaded to the cloud,” said Yossi Atias, co-founder and CEO of Dojo-Labs. “We all lock our front doors and yet our devices are wide open. Our homes contain our most intimate data but the security of these things is an afterthought. We created Dojo as the first technology to help us safeguard our home.”
Meet Dojo
Dojo prevents attacks and detects intrusions via machine learning and behavior tracking. Once it’s connected to your home network, it adds each linked device and monitors their activities, alerting you only when you need to take actions while automatically blocking any attacks. Without even having to look at the data or knowing what those threats are, Dojo can block them. It grow increasingly intelligent as new attacks and devices are introduced.
Dojo is comprised of three elements: the hardware, the app and the software. The Dojo hardware is a sleek pebble in a dock. The pebble itself can be placed anywhere in the house while the dock can be simply tucked away with the router. The light rings on the pebble glow when there is activity on your network. Using the app, you can interact with Dojo by allowing you to block activity or be alerted of potential cyber threats right on your mobile device.
As for the Dojo Intelligence, it is the cybersecurity engine that detects cyber threats and abnormal behavior through machine learning and proprietary algorithms paired with Dojo-Labs’ cyber research. It collects and analyzes metadata from the entire network of devices. This allows Dojo to detect, alert and mitigate all threats.
Dojo is available on Amazon Launchpad for the pre-order price of $99 with a 12-month service and will be released in March 2016. Dojo’s suggested retail price is $199 with a 12-month service.
