Accelerating solutions, digitalizing key assets and leveraging data with HPE | #HPEDiscover

“What makes HP so relevant is that we truly understand how to operationalize the underlying IT that has to be leveraged for business,” explained Lewis Carr, senior director of transformation solutions marketing at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (HPE).

Providing data solutions to accelerate business insight

Carr leads a group that manages the portfolio of solutions that HPE is building underneath all transformation center umbrellas.

Speaking with Dave Vellante and John Furrier, cohosts of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during HPE Discover 2015 at the ExCel event center in London, Carr described how the focus of HPE is on transforming business and accelerating solutions. It is not only providing the insight, but turning it “into a business insight into something that’s going to mean something to you,” Carr said.

Digitalizing key assets to reduce downtime

Carr described the use-case demonstration for digitizing a physical asset that is displayed at the event, where three wind turbines are working outside the ExCel center. As he explained it, the windmills represent expensive capital equipment, and the company needs to make sure they’re up all the time.

Digital monitoring allows the company to predict failures and fix them before the equipment goes down. This reduces costs as the company uses its most expensive resources in a proactive fashion, minimizing or eliminating downtime.

Supporting the customer transition

As HPE works with clients, it aims to work with existing infrastructure, complementing and extending platforms and integrating all other data. Carr discussed how solutions are found rapidly by simultaneous testing of multiple possible solutions to discover what generates the outcome before investing and scaling up.

“Often you don’t know the question until you start looking … you end up going down the rabbit hole and then back out with the right answer,” he said.

Asked to sum up the new HPE and what makes it relevant right now, Carr responded: “It’s not IT for the sake of IT; it’s about leveraging that IT to solve a business problem, and HP truly understands that.”
