VxRail allows simplicity and elasticity at the same time | #thecube

As the boom in turnkey IT rolls on, customers are looking to strike the perfect balance between simplicity and elasticity. How much customization do you forgo for the ability to set it and forget it? VCE President Chad Sakac is proudly obsessed with making his company the choice for customers at every point of the spectrum.

Sakac told Stu Miniman, host of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, that recent innovations centered on the turnkey principal, ratcheting simplicity to 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. The MO, according to Sakac, was, “Let’s focus on simplicity maniacally.” But not all customers are the same, and the company aims to address that reality with the launch of its VxRail hyper-converged appliance (a fully integrated, preconfigured and pre-tested VMware hyper-converged infrastructure appliance).

Finding the balance

Sakac stated that customers keeping the ecosystem open is still key, even with hyper-converged appliances. There are customers who want things as simple and ready-to-go as possible, but there are others who want to customize to a much greater extent.

“Customers want open ecosystems when they do it themselves,” he said. “If you’ve got 1,000, 2,000 VMS, VDI instances, VxRail is a great answer for you,” and the scalabilty allows you to go much higher than that. “We’re the only converged platform solution on the market that has that breadth,” he said.
