In a bid for the hearts and minds of businesses in regulated industries, Teradata Corp. is introducing a packaged compliance solution that combs through digital communications to detect evidence of regulatory violations.
The Teradata Communications Compliance Analytic Solution is aimed at the relieving the struggles that face businesses trying to meet compliance standards amid a fragmenting communications environment in which messages now traverse multiple channels. Courts are increasingly holding businesses accountable for employees’ electronic communications and demanding logs and backups as evidence.
Teradata’s compliance product applies a combination of machine learning, text analytics, pattern recognition, graph analysis and ad hoc analysis to create a predictive model that screens and analyzes messages and attachments at scale. It can be used to create filters that automatically screen messages and attachments against defined compliance rules. It can also be used to rapidly search and retrieve messages that may violate regulations.
The analytics engine can tap into more than 100 pre-built queries created with the Aster Analytics algorithms that came with Teradata’s acquisition of Aster Data Systems, Inc. in 2011. Aster Analytics combines Graph, R and MapReduce into one framework to enable complex queries to be executed with a single SQL command. The process reduces manual screening to just the vital few messages that are truly suspicious, Teradata said, adding that customers have seen 60-fold reductions in regulatory review processes.
Teradata said its consultants will initially assess the customer’s readiness of digital messaging archives, identify high value areas of opportunity, estimate a range of expected improvement and provide a network graph to identify non-compliant communications activity. Business users can then create, modify and run rules using a point-and-click interface to quickly and assess likelihoods of non-compliance.
The Communications Compliance Analytic Solution is available now. Pricing is on a per-customer basis.
