CircleCI receives $18 million in Series B funding round with Scale Venture Partners

Continuous delivery automation company CircleCI (Circle Internet Services, Inc.) today announced that it has secured $18 million in Series B funding led by Scale Venture Partners. Already existing investors investors DFJBaseline Ventures, and Harrison Metal also participated and this brings total financing for the company to $28 million.

The company intends to use the new funds to continue to drive product development and expand operations to allow for continued support of a global customer base. CircleCI also intends to extend sales and infrastructure support for new customers using Software-as-a-Service and Enterprise solutions.

Founded in 2011, CircleCI offers products and services that ease the rapid deployment of release code through automating build, test and deploy process—a foundation of modern DevOps. The company has two recent product launches that put these tools in the hands of developers including CircleCI Enterprise and CircleCI for OS X.

“The market is shifting with a keen eye toward DevOps and developer-centric solutions for good reason,” said Jim Rose, Chief Executive Officer, CircleCI. “We provide the velocity developers need to turn the release cycle from days to minutes without sacrificing quality. We are experiencing incredible momentum and we are eager to continue to bring the best possible solution to market for our customers and partners.”

According to CircleCI, since securing Series A funding in 2014, the company has expanded to cover 100,000 developers and organizations from just over 1,000 at the time. The company credits this expansion to “[putting] energy into building the best unified self-service continuous integration and continuous delivery tool on the market.”

CircleCI for Enterprise is an on-prem solution that allows DevOps teams to build, test and deploy code from behind the company firewall by providing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) to enterprise teams. This solution enables customers complete access control over the lifecycle of the code from secure access to source code, test platforms (databases, etc.) and other resources.

CircleCI for OS X is the CircleCI continuous integration platform for Apple’s iOS apps. It provides mobile app developers the ability to test and deploy iOS apps quickly and painlessly. The CircleCI OSX service successfully completed a recent public beta and limited release earlier this year; it is now available for businesses of all sizes to purchase and use.
