Riverbed disrupts cloud technology with SteelConnect 2.0 | #Riverbed
Riverbed Disrupt is one of the first client events for Riverbed Technology, Inc., and the company is looking forward to many more in the coming years, hoping to make a big noise in the cloud technology field.
To review the day’s events, Bharat Badrinith, VP of Solutions Marketing at Riverbed Technology, joined Dave Vellante (@dvellante) and Stu Miniman (@stu), cohosts of theCUBE, from the Silic.onANGLE Media team, during the Riverbed Disrupt event, held at the Conrad Hotel in New York City.
SteelConnect 2.0: Riverbed’s SD-WAN solution
The discussion first touched on Riverbed’s new products for wide area network optimization and application performance management, most notably SteelConnect 2.0, a revolutionary application-defined SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network) solution that provides an intelligent and simplified approach to designing, deploying and managing distributed networks for today’s cloud-centric world.
And while “… the customers who know Riverbed, love Riverbed,” Badrinith pointed out that the company’s challenge is getting new customers to come to know them. Riverbed’s smaller size is an advantage, giving it an increased agility to help move clients’ network to the cloud.
“We don’t have legacy baggage,” said Badrinith. A great driver is how users increasingly are accessing data from their mobile devices; they are asking for network data to move to their location, wherever that may be. Cloud networking provides the nimbleness to facilitate this access.
The future of public cloud
The conversation moved to public cloud and how it continues to have robust growth in the market.
“If the customer focus is on how they marry their clouds, we’ll be there to link them up,” said Badrinith. Customers want simplicity, and Riverbed’s robust suite of cloud tools can provide a way to take their clients’ operations and business to the next level, he stated.
