Arcadia Data brings visual analytics to Cloudera Enterprise

Arcadia Data Inc. is making it easier for users to extract business insights from Hadoop and other big data platforms in a new team-up Cloudera Inc. The company said Wednesday that it’s integrating its Arcadia Enterprise visual analytics software with Cloudera Enterprise to create what it calls a real-time, Hadoop-native analytics platform.

The idea here is to simplify the process of extracting business insights from data that’s analyzed from multiple sources using Cloudera’s platform. Traditional business intelligence software is notoriously difficult to use, as it involves pulling data from a data warehouse into a local server and then configuring a BI application to interact with that data – a process that’s both time consuming and also requires a lot of knowhow.

Arcadia Enterprise takes the complexity out of this process because its BI tools run natively against data sources such as Hadoop. With today’s update, the platform is directly integrated with the Cloudera Manager, providing a “data-native architecture” that enables users stream data from multiple sources like Hadoop, Apache Kudu, Apache Spark, Apache Solr, Cloudera Search and visualize it easily.

“Arcadia’s visual analytics platform offers Cloudera customers a seamless way to quickly analyze massive data sets and drill down at a granular level without the need to move data,” said Charles Zedlewski, senior vice president of products at Cloudera.

Arcadia said its new native integration feature for Cloudera works well with on-premises, cloud-based and hybrid deployments. The biggest major benefit customers will enjoy is unified real-time insights and data discovery from a single portal. In addition, the integration also provides added security benefits for Cloudera users, as Arcadia’s platform is integrated with the Apache Sentry, which is a system that allows security protocols to be configured only once for a wide range of BI tools.

The new native integration features for Arcadia Enterprise and Cloudera Enterprise are available now, at no extra cost to existing customers.
