

Gamee, a game platform for web and mobile, has raised an impressive €2 million ($2.15 million) to deliver casual games that do not require players to download anything.
The funding came from Initial Capital, Credo Ventures, Index Ventures and several European entrepreneurs.
Throughout the early 2000s, some of the most popular games were simple Flash games that players could enjoy through their web browsers without having to download and install them. Gamee wants to recapture the same casual, easy-to-pick-up feel of those games, but this time through the medium of social media and chatbots.
“Native apps are great for rich gaming experiences; however, for casual and super-casual gaming, the barrier of installing is high,” Gamee Chief Executive and co-founder Bozena Rezab said. “We have designed Gamee so that people click and play and are in gameplay within three seconds, either if you play games from our main apps or in chat with friends from our chatbots.”
Gamee’s games are made with HTML5, which allows them to be embedded and viewed across multiple platforms, including on the web and on mobile social platforms like Facebook Messenger, Telegram, Kik Messenger and other major brands. Gamee plans on releasing a software development kit for its platform later this year, making it easier for developers to create and publish their own games on Gamee’s platform.
Rezab highlighted the easily shareable nature of these games, which she said makes them attractive for brands interested in creating interactive and engaging experiences for consumers. “The cross-platform nature of HTML5 allows frictionless sharing of games as easy as sharing YouTube videos on the Internet without the need to download the games or go to the app store to find them,” Rezab said. “This is a big game-changer for brands looking for new ways to engage with their audiences in a more meaningful way.”
According to a blog post by Rezab, Gamee’s community has grown to more than 4 million users in only one year, and the company’s platform has been used by NASA, Coca Cola, Guinness World Records and others. Gamee was also a launch partner for Facebook Instant in November, and Rezab said Gamee was “among top 10 global companies to launch Facebook Instant games.”
