Watch live: Infor bets on AI, machine learning at Inforum 2017

What is Infor Inc. doing to not only innovate but drive revenue in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning?

Looking to answer these questions and others, SiliconANGLE is at the Infor Inforum 2017 event, currently underway in New York City, with exclusive commentary and interviews from our roving news desk, theCUBE. (* Disclosure below.)

Infor, the privately held business software company, received a significant $2.5 billion investment in November from Koch Industries Inc. The investment values the New York-based Infor at over $10 billion. The investment, which Charles Phillips, chief executive officer of Infor, described as “transformational,” provides the immediate benefit of having Koch as a customer and will allow Infor to focus on more “white space projects” like AI.

During its segments at the Infor Inforum event, theCUBE will focus on the company’s recent acquisitions across business intelligence, data visualization and enterprise resource planning.

To boost its BI technology and compete more heavily with Oracle Corp., Infor announced the acquisition of BI specialist Birst Inc. earlier this year for an undisclosed amount of money, but sources put the figure around $100 million. Some of Birst’s global customers include Citrix Systems, Inc., the Kellogg Co. and Schneider Electric SE.

In an attempt to transform retail, Whole Foods Market Inc. became an Infor customer in 2015. The recent acquisition of Whole Foods by Amazon.com Inc. for $13.7 billion will prove interesting for Infor. The company’s GT Nexus division, which it acquired in 2015 for $675 million, signed a deal with Amazon earlier this year that will see the ecommerce giant running its transportation and logistics in part on the GT Nexus platform.

Keynote speakers at Inforum 2017 include Infor executives Charles Phillips; Stephan Scholl, president; Duncan Angove, president; Soma Somasundaram, executive vice president of global product development; and Marc Scibelli, chief creative officer.

Other guest speakers include Terry Wise, vice president of worldwide alliances, channels and ecosystem at Amazon Web Services; Steve Lucas, chief executive officer of Marketo Inc.; and Dhiraj Shah, founder, president and chief executive officer of Avaap Inc.

Presented by the Women’s Infor Network, Pam Murphy, chief operating officer at Infor, will be joined by Susan Rice, former U.S. National Security Advisor and ambassador to the United Nations; Farah Pandith, former special representative to Muslim communities for the U.S. Department of State; and other female leaders to discuss the “The Change Makers: Closing technology, societal, and political gaps.”
