One of Dell EMC’s most senior executives, David Goulden (pictured), who is currently in charge of the company’s Infrastructure Solutions Group, will leave the company by the end of its current fiscal year in January 2018.
Dell Technologies Inc. announced the departure of Goulden Friday, saying the executive will hang around to help with a transition that will see Client Solutions group boss Jeff Clarke eventually assume his product management duties.
Goulden’s exit comes a year after Dell Inc. completed its $67 billion acquisition of his former employer EMC Corp. When that deal was finalized in September 2016, Goulden became president of the combined company’s Infrastructure Solutions Group, which comprises storage, server and networking products.
Clarke, who previously held the role of president at Dell Inc. before the merger with EMC, will now lead the company’s infrastructure and client solutions businesses, the latter comprising personal computers and laptops. In addition, Clarke will continue to lead the company’s global manufacturing, procurement and supply chain operations, Dell EMC said in a statement.
“David Goulden has played an integral role in successfully orchestrating our historic merger and building the world’s largest privately controlled technology company,” Michael Dell, chairman and CEO, said in a statement.
The 58-year-old Goulden exits the company after more than 15 years of service. He first joined premerger EMC in 2002, and served as that company’s president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer at various times. It’s said that Goulden played a significant role in a number of high-profile acquisitions EMC made during that time, including its 2004 purchase of VMware Inc.
Goulden appeared on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media Inc.’s mobile TV studio, at Dell EMC World in May, where he discussed the effects of the Dell EMC merger and the company’s long-term business strategies:
