Watch Live: Exploring big data monetization opportunities at BigData NYC 2017

In the wake of the Amazon Effect where businesses feel the pressure to digitize storefronts, customer service interactions and marketing, what are the opportunities and challenges in big data monetization and value extraction?

Kicking off today to answer these and other questions, BigData NYC 2017, hosted by theCUBE, will run through Sept. 28 at Pillars 37 in New York City. SiliconANGLE will bring you exclusive interviews from BigData NYC from our roving news desk, theCUBE.

Led by industry-wide investments from the finance and manufacturing sectors, worldwide revenues for big data and business analytics is expected to reach $150.8 billion in 2017, an increase of 12.4 percent over 2016, according to International Data Corp. And the trend is trickling into more companies not traditionally considered within the realm of technology, with the likes of The Coca-Cola Co. and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport leveraging data to help drive product success and even win races.

The big data market for the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry alone is expected to reach $4 billion by the end of 2017 and surpass $5.8 billion by the end of 2020. This month saw WuXi NextCODE, a genomic big data platform, raise $240 million series B financing led by Sequoia Capital China.

These companies’ information technology departments now have the challenge of dealing with large amounts of data, turning to artificial intelligence and machine learning to help sort, organize and aggregate the data. The matter of integrating such innovative technologies in AI and ML is a key area of interest at this year’s BigData NYC event.
