Information technology services company CorpInfo Inc. has raised $20 million in new funding and announced a strategic shift that includes a name change and new focus on Amazon Web Services consulting and managed services.
The company has adopted the name of Onica Inc., taken from a service it started offering in 2013. It’s already a certified AWS Premier Consulting Partner and Managed Service Provider Partner and will completely phase out its legacy consulting business.
“Today’s announcements are the culmination of four years at the forefront of the cloud computing boom in collaboration with AWS and having supported hundreds of customers in their transformations,” Onica Chief Executive Officer Stephen Garden (pictured) said in a statement. “This investment will allow Onica to continue to expand sales, marketing, and delivery resources globally, and to accelerate our development of technology solutions that bring operational excellence to the enterprise cloud journey.”
The newly focused AWS-only business launches with deep experience, with the company having already completed more than 400 AWS engagements and 150 AWS certifications with existing customers collectively spending more than $100 million a year on the cloud. Onica provides a full range of AWS services including cloud management, migration services, DevOps automation, security and compliance, big data and analytics, Microsoft on AWS and more.
Noting that the change in focus for the company represents a shift in the market as a whole, Mike Biggee, co-founder and managing director at Sunstone Partners, which led the funding round, said that “there is no bigger transformation in IT today than the shift within the enterprise from private data centers to the use of public cloud infrastructure.”
It’s not known if CorpInfo had previously raised funds as it has been privately held since 1983, making its shift to a cloud-only company 34 years later all the more notable.
