Scalable security tools ease digital, cloud integration struggles

As companies of all sizes struggle with digital and cloud integration, one issue stands out above the rest: scalable security. Identity and access management solutions company Centrify Corp. is working to implement identity-based security measures, shore up unprotected wireless access, and partner with Amazon Web Services Inc. to increase security tool accessibility.

“If you look at most of the breaches out there, 80 percent of [them] are to do with compromised credentials. … We are solving that problem. … If you implement security based upon identity, you’re going to be able to reduce your risk,” said Bill Mann (pictured), chief product officer at Centrify.

Mann spoke with John Walls (@JohnWalls21), co-host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, and guest host Justin Warren (@jpwarren), chief analyst at PivotNine Pty Ltd., during the AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. They discussed Centrify’s mission of securing enterprise information technology, including solving the problem of unprotected wireless access that leaves companies vulnerable to breach, and how the company plans to expand its reach through a partnership with Amazon Web Services Inc. Protection beyond the firewall

Centrify’s intends to live up to its tagline “The breach stops here” by working with AWS to make its security tools easily accessible from one platform. New to the Amazon Marketplace e-commerce platform, the company joined the Amazon ecosystem in an effort to reduce the friction of selling to enterprise and mid-market customers, Mann explained.

“With the move to the cloud, our customers were asking how to secure servers in the cloud and secure access to applications in the cloud. … Getting our products on the marketplace was just an important aspect of reaching those customers,” Mann said.

The company attacks security issues with its Zero Trust Security model (based on Google’s BeyondCorp. security model), which primarily addresses identity and credentials management and access clearance. Centrify provides a range of protective services, including Application Service, Endpoints Service and Infrastructure Service to secure a company’s processes completely.

“If a company wants to implement BeyondCorp … you can use the services that we provide on the Amazon Marketplace to implement that. … It’s bringing all these components together, and that’s what we’re providing to the marketplace,” Mann said.

Centrify offers this integrated protection for companies at every point of the cloud journey, providing protection on-premises, through migrations, and for cloud computing. “We’re connecting these components together, and that’s the only way we’re going to raise security. … A firewall will not protect you from these breaches,” Mann stated.

Ultimately, Mann hopes to help businesses stay fully protected as they enter a new digital era. “Companies haven’t implemented these products in the past because they’ve been too expensive … hard to implement, not mobile friendly. We’re hoping once we’re on Amazon’s Marketplace … we’re going to see a lot of customers adopting those. … They’re going to get safer,” Mann concluded.
