

Apple Inc.’s troubled iPhone X smartphone is facing more issues amid reports of complaints that they have problems answering phone calls.
The problem, which first emerged on Apple’s support pages, involves a delay between an incoming call and the display on the iPhone X giving users the option of accepting the call. The Financial Times reports that hundreds of owners have complained on Apple forums about the issue, quoting one user as saying, “Whenever I receive an incoming call in my iPhone X, ringtones start but the display comes in after 6-8 seconds.” Another wrote, “I can often not see an incoming call coming, can only hear it! At other times, there is a significant delay.”
It’s unclear at this stage as to exactly how widespread this issue is and whether it is related to a hardware or software issue. If it is indeed widespread, Apple would be hoping it’s a software issue, because a hardware issue would require a repair program, such as the one it announced last week for iPhone 7 customers who are experiencing a bug that prevents the device from connecting to a cellular network. The Verge reported that the problem in that case was a failed component on the main logic board.
This isn’t the first time the iPhone X is reported to have had issues. Users complained in November that it doesn’t work in cold weather. Dubbed “Coldgate” at the time, the issue was confirmed by Apple, which said it was related to a rapid change of temperature. It issued a software patch for the bug later the same month.
The latest news also follows reports in January that sales of the device have fallen below expectations. A report Jan. 23 suggested that Apple was looking to cease production of the iPhone X starting in midyear because of lackluster sales, while a report Jan. 29 claimed Apple would cut production of its flagship device in half for the next three months.
