Commvault Systems Inc. is building a partner ecosystem to strengthen its position in expanding hybrid environments. Yesterday, the company announced that its Complete Backup and Recovery software would now be available directly from NetApp Inc. and NetApp channel partners. That was followed by the news today that Commvault’s backup and recovery software would be fully integrated with Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.’s StoreOnce systems.
The latest announcements were consistent with Commvault’s philosophy of deep integration in the stack while leveraging an extensive partner network to provide support.
“The secret in the sauce is to create better together,” said Robert Brower (pictured, left), chief of staff at Commvault. “We will integrate more deeply into your technology stack than other partners to create success for you.”
Brower spoke with Stu Miniman (@stu), host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s mobile livestreaming studio, and guest host Keith Townsend (@CTOAdvisor), principal at The CTO Advisor, during Commvault GO 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was joined by Wenceslao Lada (pictured, right), vice president of worldwide alliances at Commvault, and they discussed how Commvault’s partner ecosystem contributes to the company’s solution-based approach and the role of its extensive product portfolio in meeting the demands of a hybrid world. In keeping with Commvault’s hybrid approach, the latest announcements were designed to protect a customer’s data assets, regardless of where they may be located. The recent solution announced with HPE includes support for low-bandwidth mode deduplication and facilitates movement and use of customers’ data across on-premises and cloud platforms.
“Customers want to have an ecosystem of partners or alliances that are going to be able to really help them navigate and create that journey,” Lada said. “We are really excited about creating an ecosystem of partners.”
Earlier this year, Commvault simplified its pricing and product structure while launching two reseller support features. The Partner Success Desk is a portal site for sales and technical inquiries, and the Commvault Quote Center is designed to provide fast assistance for sales needs.
“As the partners that we work with say they need this stack, this capability or go-to-market, our product is versatile, our depth is sufficiently solid that we can provide that for them,” Brower said.
