Google’s cloud business unveils $500M services collaboration with partner SADA

Partners are a big part of Google LLC’s public cloud strategy and it actively invests in strategic alliances to support competitive goals.

Case in point: The search giant today announced that it has entered a $500 million agreement with partner SADA Systems Inc. that will see SADA deliver more consulting services to enterprises looking to adopt Google Cloud.

Los Angeles-based SADA is a professional services provider that helps companies with tasks such as application migrations and managing databases. The firm plays an important role in Google’s partner ecosystem. SADA was named by Google’s cloud business as its “Global Reseller Partner of the Year” for 2019 and claims to have more than 3,000 consulting projects under its belt.

Under the new agreement, the firm will launch new migration, training and contact center solutions as well as grow its engineering team.

The migration offerings will focus on helping companies move on-premises analytics workloads to Google Cloud. SADA is promising “prepackaged” service bundles for moving Hadoop, Teradata and IBM Netezza environments to BigQuery, Google’s managed data warehouse.

The training offerings, in turn, are comprised of workshops aimed at familiarizing enterprises’ internal information technology teams with Google Cloud. SADA is promising “sprint workshops” on building machine learning projects atop the platform. It will also provide courses about Google’s Anthos suite of application development and management tools.

The third area where Google will expand its work with SADA is the contact center market. According to the search giant, SADA will join forces with its other partners in this segment to bring Google Cloud’s machine learning services to more enterprise contact centers.

Previously, Google struck an alliance with HCL Technologies Ltd. to help the outsourcing giant set up a dedicated Google Cloud business unit with more than 5,000 employees. The search giant earlier announced an expanded partnership with Accenture plc meant to boost the use of its AI products among Fortune 2000 companies.

SADA isn’t as large as HCL and Accenture, but it’s growing rapidly. “Since going all-in with Google Cloud and joining its MSP initiative, our Google Cloud Platform business has grown nearly 400%,” SADA Chief Executive Officer Tony Safoian disclosed today.

This kind of partner-led growth is valuable for Google. The search giant saw Google Cloud and G Suite sales jump a hefty 53% last quarter, to a combined $2.61 billion, but it still missed Wall Street analysts’ overall revenue forecast.
