Bizagi launches CoronaPass COVID-19 antibody testing certification for essential workers

Business process management and automation platform Bizagi announced today the launch of CoronaPass, a digital solution that will offer governments, healthcare organizations and corporations a way for people to demonstrate immunity to the COVID-19 pandemic based on the results of rapidly expanding antibody testing across the globe.

As COVID-19 continues to spread across the world, the likelihood of getting sick, or getting other people sick, continues to be a concern. The total cases worldwide exceeded 1.9 million today and many countries have gone into lockdown to slow its spread.

Until a vaccine is available, it’s hoped that individuals who have already caught and recovered from the disease will be able to return to their jobs. That’s because once the human immune system has fought off a virus, it produces antibodies that are believed to provide resistance to infection in the future. The presence of these antibodies shows that a person is less likely to become sick or be a carrier again.

Ernst & Young Ltd., an assurance and advisory company, has announced that it will be amid the first to deploy CoronaPass to identify employees and other workers who can safely return to work.

“While the science of immunity is still being explored, it is abundantly clear that certification will be necessary in a wide range of circumstances in order to facilitate business continuity and protect the most vulnerable in society from the virus,” said Bizagi Chief Executive Gustavo Gomez.

CoronaPass will allow users to apply for certification based on serological results – that is, blood tests for the IgM-IgG antibodies related to coronavirus exposure.

Following tests and approval from a licensed healthcare professional, they will receive a CoronaPass QR code that can be stored on a mobile device (similar to a digital boarding pass) or print out that can be presented for validation when necessary.

“As countries around the world begin to roll out antibody tests, now is the time to take action to find ways to easily identify those who are no longer a threat based on our understanding of the virus at this time,” Gomez said. “CoronaPass helps front-line staff, who are needed more than ever, return to work if they can prove immunity, while ensuring that vulnerable patients and customers are not at risk.”

Using CoronaPass, the certification process for front-line workers and others who have tested for COVID-19 antibodies can prove that they are safer to return to their normal routine.

Bizagi and EY believe that this will drastically reduce the economic and psychological toll of the current isolation and social distancing measures, and will do so without increasing the risk to people who have not contracted the virus.

The solution is powered by Bizagi’s Microsoft Azure-based cloud automation platform and conforms with local and global standards and regulations. All medical records and identity information about workers who have submitted to tests will be kept secure following standards including compliance with the United States’ Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act in the United States as well as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation laws.

To ensure compliance with local laws and regulations, data centers for the app are in the jurisdiction of each country served.

Some details on CoronaPass are available online today at CoronaPass.org, but access and connectivity will come through the organizations that partner with Bizagi to roll out the solution.
