Smarsh acquires cybersecurity compliance and risk analytics firm Entreda

Cloud information archiving firm Smarsh Inc. revealed today that it has acquired cybersecurity compliance and risk analytics firm Entreda Inc. for an undisclosed price.

Founded in 2010, Entreda offers a comprehensive suite of cybersecurity software, systems and training to the wealth management industry. The company’s cyber risk platform Unity is designed to assist regulated industries monitor and protect client information and assets with high levels of security.

The company’s software is designed to automate cybersecurity compliance on user devices, networks and applications with monitoring applications and real-time auto-remediation of any noncompliance detected. Users can set up rule-based compliance checks, automated alerts and notifications as well as get access to comprehensive audit trails and logs.

Entreda’s security tools include remote desktop, automatic virtual private networks, data leakage monitoring, password policy monitoring and enforcement, antivirus and anti-malware tools, and device encryption.

The company has nearly 300 clients covering registered investment advisers and broker-deale, including Advisor Group Inc., a wealth management firm with more than 11,000 financial advisors.

Post-acquisition, Entreda will continue to operate under its own brand with co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Sid Yenamandra continuing to run the company. For Smarsh, the acquisition allows the company to provide enterprise cybersecurity risk and compliance capabilities to broker-dealers, registered investment advisors and banks

“In the past few months, more and more companies have asked for our help in addressing the regulatory, compliance and cybersecurity risks associated with the move to long-term remote-work models and the expanded use of mobile and collaborative communications technology, such as Microsoft Teams, Slack and Zoom,” said Smarsh CEO Brian Cramer. “With the acquisition, Smarsh can now offer our customers cutting-edge device, network and user-level cybersecurity risk and compliance management capabilities.”

The amount raised by Entrada prior to acquisition is unknown. According to Crunchbase, the company raised money in a seed round in 2011, followed by a Series A round in 2012.
