Veeam, HPE solidify strong global partnership for data storage and management

For more than 10 years, Veeam Software Corp. has had an important partnership with Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. to bring customers effective solutions for data management, storage and recovery — both on and off-premises. In fact, Veeam was awarded the Global Technology Partner award by HPE again this year — the second year running for Veeam, which also won in 2019.

So what does this partnership actually look like for customers?

“There are so many different areas that we could work with HPE on, but … we focused on a few key parts of the portfolio,” said David Harvey (pictured), vice president of strategic alliances at Veeam. “Storage, obviously, is key; 3PAR, Primera, Nimble, StoreOnce, Apollo — areas where we’ve done really strong work over the years and continue to provide great solutions to the customers.”

Harvey spoke with Stu Miniman, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, during the HPE Discover Virtual Experience event. They discussed strong partnership uses cases and ways Veeam and HPE continue to partner(* Disclosure below.)

Veeam and HPE use-case partnership increase storage capabilities

HPE and Veeam have over 100 countries where they’ve done deals together, according to Harvey. But one use case that stands out to Harvey, which showcases the partnership that both technology companies have to help their customers, is with a company called White River Health Services — a medical system solution serving over half a million customers.

“Those guys had a massive growth rate of data — 30% growth year over year — and really needed to make sure that that availability of data was there so that they provided solid solutions to their customers,” Harvey said. “We partnered up with a solution with StoreOnce and provided them with a fantastic amount of savings per year on their overall solution but also gave them that business continuity that they were looking at.”

In Europe, the Metropolitan Thames Valley is a very large housing authority that was having trouble looking at the ability to put a full disaster recovery plan into place. Veeam worked with HPE to put in a great solution that not only allowed the organization to reduce the ability to recover from seven days to less than 30 minutes, but MTV also managed to be more efficient with the amount of rack utilization that was in place.

“[It was] a unified solution to allow them to be in a scenario where they knew that the IT partners they were working with were fully in unison, so there was never any service question if they needed any support,” Harvey stated. “So a couple of really good examples from around the world.”
