Network security startup Axis Security raises $32M to accelerate growth
Network security startup Axis Security today said it has raised $32 million in new funding to accelerate growth and meet market demand.
The Series B round was led by Canaan Partners and included Ten Eleven Ventures and Cyberstarts.
Founded in 2018 with a launch out of stealth mode in March, Axis Security offers the Axis Application Access Cloud, an “agentless” model that it says delivers the easiest and safest way to connect users on any device in minutes to private apps without touching the network or the applications.
Designed to solve the issue of implicitly open network access, the company’s service can deploy with no agent or network changes required. Adaptive Access Technology powering Axis Security’s service continuously manages all user activity while enforcing policy based on user behavior analytics along with Application Isolation Technology that prevents direct user access to eliminate attack surfaces.
Axis Security customers include Armis and Cargenas Markets along with an unnamed global food distributor and global vacation company. With Armis, Axis claims that its Application Access Cloud has virtually replaced its VPN in favor of zero-trust security with a 90% reduction in costs while strengthening security.
“Our application approach solves multiple problems not addressed by existing access solutions, such as VPNs, that operate at the network layer,” Dor Knafo, founder and chief executive officer of Axis Security, said in a statement. “Because our access service operates at the application layer, we offer a unique level of adaptive control, granular visibility and continuous security and we are able to automate and extend those capabilities by integrating with the endpoint, identity, and SIEM solutions that our customers use each and every day.”
Along with the new funding, Axis Security announced an expansion of its product offering through integrations with leading security information and event management identity management and endpoint security vendors Splunk Inc., Okta Inc. and CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. The integration provides organizations with an integrated fabric for securing access to applications via its Application Access Cloud platform.
Including the new funding, Axis Security has raised $49 million to date.
