Cybersecurity intelligence firm 4iQ raises $30M in new funding round
Cybersecurity intelligence startup 4iQ Inc. said today it’s planning to ramp up its investment in go-to-market activities after hiring Kailash Ambwani as its new chief executive and landing $30 million in a new round of funding.
ForgePoint Capital and Benhamou Global Ventures led the Series C round, with participation from C5 Capital, Adara Ventures and TheVentureCity.
4iQ provides cyber intelligence services that help companies to measure, monitor and manage their digital risk. Its platform works by indexing account information that’s exposed in website data breaches and then providing real-time alerts of stolen, leaked or lost credentials and personally identifiable information.
The company says this kind of intelligence is important because it can help companies to identify the threat actors behind these kinds of attacks. It gives companies a more complete picture of the digital threats they face and enables them to be more proactive when it comes to dealing with them.
The intelligence 4iQ uncovers can also be used by cyber investigators to analyze the monikers or pseudonyms of attackers and discover their true identities, with an aim to expedite the fraud and cybercrime investigation process.
Ambwani, who previously served as CEO at data cataloging provider Waterline Data Inc. and compliance, security and archiving firm Actiance Inc., brings more than 20 years of leadership experience and has a successful track record in scaling up growing businesses.
“4iQ is at the forefront of understanding modern digital risk and I’m elated to lead it towards its vision to help every company operationalize that understanding, stop fraud and crime, and make people safer,” said Ambwani. “It’s no longer enough to keep your own house in order. Exposed credentials continue to proliferate in underground communities, especially in the wake of COVID-19, and so, now more than ever, we must empower investigators to uncover the real identities behind criminal activities and thwart future attacks.”
