Nvidia gets its own AI store in the AWS Marketplace

Nvidia Corp. is getting its own storefront in Amazon Web Services Inc.’s AWS Marketplace.

Under an announcement today, customers will be able to download directly more than 20 of Nvidia’s NGC software resources to speed up their artificial intelligence deployments in healthcare, robotics, data science and other projects.

Nvidia NGC is a catalog of graphics processing unit-powered software that’s designed to speed up tasks such as deep learning, machine learning and high-performance computing. The software, which is optimized to run on Nvidia’s GPUs, is comprised of various machine learning frameworks and software development kits that are packaged in containers so users can get them up and running with just a few clicks. It provides a way for customers to design, build and train AI models and bring them into production as fast as possible.

The AWS Marketplace is where customers can find, buy and then immediately start using software and services that run on the AWS cloud.

In a blog post, Nvidia NGC Director Adel El Hallak said the company is making 21 Nvidia NGC resources available in the AWS Marketplace. He added that this is the first time the NGC software is being offered through a third-party marketplace.

“Many organizations look to the cloud first for new deployment, so having NGC software available at the fingertips of data scientists and developers can help enterprises hit the ground running,” El Hallak said. “With NGC, they can easily get started on new AI projects without having to leave the AWS ecosystem.”

Much of Nvidia’s NGC software is application-specific. For example it includes Nvidia Clara Imaging, which is an application framework designed to accelerate deep learning training and inference for medical imaging use cases. Other examples include Nvidia Merlin, an open beta framework for creating large-scale recommendation systems, and Nvidia HPC SDK, a suite of compilers, libraries and tools for HPC workloads.

El Hallak said there were a number of benefits to be had by downloading Nvidia’s AI software and running it directly on AWS. Users can find the software they need more easily, he said, and then they can run it on Amazon’s EC2 P4d instances that are powered by Nvidia’s latest A100 GPUs and ensure the best possible AI training and inference performance. The AWS Marketplace also ensures users have access to the latest versions of Nvidia’s NGC software as it updates its catalog as soon as any new versions come available.

“The software is constantly optimized, and the monthly releases give users access to the latest features and performance improvements,” El Hallak said.

The other big benefit is that users can make use of Amazon cloud services such as Amazon SageMaker, which provides an easier way for users to create, train and deploy AI models in the AWS cloud.

Nvidia’s NGC software is available on the AWS Marketplace starting today.
