LogRhythm acquires threat detection startup MistNet
Security intelligence firm LogRhythm Inc. announced today it has acquired threat detection startup MistNet.IO Inc. for an undisclosed price.
Founded in 2016, MistNet offers a security threat detection and prevention platform that is designed to minimize exposure to cybersecurity risks. The company’s main offering, TensorMist-AI, constructs a geodistributed, meshed data pipeline by combining scale-out data management with distributed processing analytics.
TensorMist-AI is claimed to eliminate backhaul “tax” and scaling challenges that are associated with moving large amounts of data over a wide-area network or to the cloud. Built for scale, TensorMist-AI delivers processing power as security needs dictate, ensuring data privacy and compliance at the same time.
MistNet’s platform offers support for Cisco, Docker, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Elastic, Apache Spark, Splunk, Phantom, VMware, Kubernetes, Service Now, Fortinet, Jira, Palo Alto Networks, IBM, Juniper Networks and Hadoop.
For LogRhythm, the acquisition delivers the ability to deliver intelligent, machine learning-based detection and response capabilities that incorporate network detection, user and entity behavior analytics, endpoint detection and response data, and additional MITRE ATT&CK detections to solve current and emerging security and risk problems.
TensorMist-AI technology also delivers AI capabilities to LogRhythm. The technology provides improved network visibility to increase detection and reduce the time to respond to advanced persistent threats that can bypass traditional perimeter defenses.
“Their solution will facilitate our goal of addressing current and emerging endpoint security needs for our global customers and partners,” Mark Logan, president and chief executive officer of LogRhythm, said in a statement. “MistNet complements our existing SIEM platform by enhancing deep network visibility, behavior analytics and threat detection capabilities and will accelerate LogRhythm’s reach into the XDR market.”
Prior to its acquisition, MistNet had raised $7 million in venture capital funding from investors that included WestWave Capital and Foundation Capital.
