Google Cloud and C3 AI team up to drive AI adoption in vertical markets

Google LLC and C3 AI Inc., a publicly traded maker of artificial intelligence software, today announced a partnership aimed at helping more enterprises incorporate machine learning into their operations.

As part of its collaboration with Google, C3 AI has made its entire lineup of AI software products available on Google Cloud. The companies’ sales teams will work with one another to encourage product adoption through co-selling initiatives. Google and C3 AI will focus their efforts on driving product adoption across five markets in particular: financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, supply chain and telecommunications.

“Google Cloud and C3 AI share the vision that artificial intelligence can help businesses address real-world challenges and opportunities across multiple industries,” said Google Cloud Chief Executive Officer Thomas Kurian. “We believe that by delivering C3 AI’s applications on Google Cloud, and by partnering to address specific industry use cases with AI, we can help customers benefit more quickly and at greater scale.”

NYSE-traded C3 AI provides a set of AI products used by Fortune 500 companies and public sector organizations. The company’s products can be organized into two main categories. The first category consists of solutions for building machine learning models, while the other is made up of packaged AI applications that enterprises can deploy without doing any in-house software development.

C3 AI’s lineup of solutions for building machine learning models solutions comprises two offerings: Ex Machina and the AI Suite. Ex Machina is a platform that enables business users without extensive programming expertise to create neural networks through a graphical interface. The AI Suite, in turn, is designed for the same task, but provides a broader set of features and targets technology teams such as data science departments rather than business users.

C3 AI’s packaged AI application lineup, the other major component of its product portfolio, gives companies access to ready-to-use machine learning features. Each application focuses on a different use case. One tracks customer churn, another helps identify ways to increase production line efficiency and the others in the lineup perform similarly specialized tasks.

Additionally, C3 AI offers a customer relationship management platform that uses machine learning to automate sales-related tasks such as finding upselling opportunities. The platform was developed through a partnership with Microsoft Corp. and Adobe Systems Inc. that the company announced last year.

C3 AI founder and CEO Thomas Siebel today stated that “combining the innovation, leadership, scale, and go-to-market expertise of Google Cloud with the substantial business value delivered from C3 AI applications, this partnership will dramatically accelerate the adoption of Enterprise AI applications across all industry segments.”

In addition to collaborating on sales efforts, Google and C3 AI will work together to more closely integrate the latter company’s applications with a number of key Google Cloud services. Those services include the search giant’s recently introduced Vertex AI offering for machine learning model development. Rounding out the list is BigQuery, Google’s cloud data warehouse, and the Google Kubernetes Engine.
