New Citrix app delivery solution is tailored for virtual hybrid cloud world realities

Citrix Systems Inc. took advantage of the first in its series of three Launchpad events on September 28 to unveil a new, intent-based cloud solution that automates application delivery and security in real-time.

The Citrix App Delivery and Security Service is designed to remove complexity throughout the app delivery process. For one experienced IT executive, it was further validation of the need to build key infrastructure around applications and security.

“What jumped out at me with Launchpad was that Citrix honed in on the key issues with this virtual world,” said Kevin L. Jackson (pictured), chief executive officer of GC GlobalNet. “It’s delivering applications knowing what the internet state is so that you could select the right sources for information and data. It’s making security holistic so that it’s no longer this bolted-on thing. We are in the virtual world to stay.”

Jackson spoke with John Furrier, host of SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming video studio theCUBE. They discussed the value of an intent-driven solution for enterprise IT and the need for platforms that meet the demands of a hybrid world. (* Disclosure below.)

Automated translation and correction

Citrix’s new, intent-based cloud solution automatically translates business and technical intent and auto-corrects application delivery issues through a self-healing and continuously optimizing process.

“This whole application delivery and security aspect is completely different than before,” Jackson said. “That’s why this intent-driven solution that Citrix has come up with is so revolutionary. By being able to know the real business needs and requirements and then translating them to real policies that can be enforced, you can project the needs and requirements of the organization anywhere in the world immediately.”

Citrix’s strategy to build its latest offering on top of cloud services is tailored to meet IT expectations in what has become a hybrid and multicloud world.

“I don’t like referring to the cloud; it gives the impression there’s only a single cloud and it’s the same no matter what,” Jackson said. “That couldn’t be further from the truth. A typical organization will consume services from three to five cloud service providers. Hybrid and multicloud is the cloud.”
