Connecteam pockets $120M to connect ‘deskless’ workers

Connecteam, a startup that provides technology to connect “deskless” employees, today announced a new $120 million funding round that brings its total cash raised to $160 million.

The Tel Aviv-based firm said it will use the Series C funding to grow its global operations, add 300 new employees and expand both research and development and marketing.

Connecteam, which is the business name of Mobilesson Ltd., is targeting the 80% of workers who do not have permanent desks and thus are often shut out of management communications and day-to-day team-building. Its mobile app has features for tracking time and attendance, communicating with managers and peers, training, employee recognition, human resource functions and employee task management.

“Companies in cleaning, manufacturing and retail all have their own complex operations that they need to manage,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Amir Nehemia. “We replace the laptop with all the capabilities desk workers have but can be done from the phone.”

The integrated product is comprised of three different hubs. The operations hub covers time tracking, scheduling, checklists and forms and task management. The communication hub provides an organizational directory, internal chat, updates, announcements and surveys. The HR and people management hub covers recognition and rewards, employee documentation management, employee timelines and training.

“We’re very devoted to the end-user experience, simple things that make life easier like claiming a shift, better financial planning and being connected to the organization,” said Chief Operating Officer Yuval Magid. “It makes it easier and more fun to perform your task and in the longer term it translates into happier employees and higher retention.” Customers typically see reduced turnover rates and save money by being able to better orchestrate employees in the field.

“Organizations can be more agile and move faster,” Nehemia said. “Retailers who had to think four months ahead to launch a new product can reduce that cycle to one or two weeks because, for the first time, they can see everything and get feedback from the field.”

Connecteam offers a free tier and fixed pricing that starts $39 per month for the first 50 employees. The company counts more than 20,000 customer organizations in more than 80 countries, with about half paying a license fee. Despite being based in Israel, about 70% of the customers it has signed up are in North America.

The firm raised $37 million in an earlier funding round last April and has been growing 400% annually for the past two years, Nehemia said. He said the company “can be profitable tomorrow,” but he believes now is the time to move aggressively because it figures only about 2% of the market has been penetrated.

Funding was co-led by Stripes Group LLC and Insight Partners Inc., with participation from Tiger Global Management LLC, Qumra Capital and OG Tech Ventures Ltd.
