Never dig through software logs again: Join theCUBE June 15 for a special broadcast with Zebrium
Whenever a software failure or incident strikes, hunting the root cause becomes a mind-boggling affair, because millions and billions of lines of software and infrastructure log data have to be scrutinized to unearth details of the problem.
Not only is this labor-intensive, but costly because the mean time to resolve, or MTTR, can span hours or even days. By deploying machine learning on software logs with claims of 95.8% accuracy, Zebrium Inc. seeks to streamline things by automating the observer.
“Customers just want to figure out the root cause as quickly and as efficiently as possible,” said Dave Vellante (pictured), chief research officer of Wikibon Inc. and theCUBE industry analyst. “It’s one thing to observe the stack end to end, but who is automating the observers? Zebrium is using unsupervised machine learning to detect anomalies and pinpoint root causes; and delivering it as an automated service.”
Join theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, and Zebrium on June 15 at 9 a.m. PT for the exclusive “Root Cause as a Service: Never Dig Through Logs Again” event. During the livestream, Vellante and industry experts will delve deeper into the need for fast and seamless root cause analysis, and how autonomous machine learning is proving to be a game-changer in this space. The pain of going through logs should be a thing of the past
In the modern era, fast incident detection and resolution require an end-to-end view, while automation boosts scaling efforts to address a sprawling threat landscape. As a result, businesses find themselves looking to simplify the matter of root cause analysis for enhanced and democratized end user experience, according to Vellante.
“Fickle consumers can switch brands in the blink of an eye — or the click of a mouse,” Vellante pointed out. “Technology companies have sprung into action, and the observability space is getting crowded in an effort to simplify the process of figuring out the root cause of application performance problems without an army of Ph.D.s in lab coats — AKA endlessly digging through logs.”
Zebrium is taking up the mantle by automating the manual effort that a developer, site reliability engineer, or DevOps engineer needs to find the root cause, according to Gavin Cohen, vice president of product at Zebrium.
“Observability tools are widely used yet they still need humans to manually search through and interpret the data they present … this is painful and takes time,” Cohen noted. “We automate the discovery of the root cause.”
To avert the pain of manually going through logs, automating the eyeball has become a necessity, Larry Lancaster, founder and chief technology officer at Zebrium, previously told theCUBE.
“Observability is about making tools to help, but it’s still going to take you hours,” Lancaster stated. “Our contention is that you need to automate the eyeball; the bottleneck is now the human eyeball.”
